Areas of Expertise: Environmental Microbiology: Analysis biodiversity of dynamic microbial population (Antibiotic resistance, Nitrogen fixing, denitrification, Anammox and plant growth promoting microorganism), Phytoremediation, Bioremediation, Antibacterial/Antifungal activity of natural plant products, Bioinformatics: Use of bioinformatics tools.
Professor Md. Mizanur Rahman started his academic career as a Lecturer and junior researcher in 2003 in the Dept. of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Islamic University, Kushtia-7003, Bangladesh. In 2006 he was promoted to Assistant Professor at the same department. In 2008 he joined as a PhD Research Fellow at the School of Crop Science, Padova University, Italy.
In 2011 he came back to his former department and promoted as an Associate Professor and promoted to a full Professor in 2016 at the Dept. of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Islamic University, Kushtia, Bangladesh. Moreover, he also worked as Post Doc Fellowship (CAS-PIFI) from July 2016 to April 2018 at the Institute of Soil Science. Chines Academic of Sciences, Nanjing, China.
Professor Md. Mizanur Rahman published more than 60 articles, Book Chapters, Monographs and conference Proceedings in different high indexed peer reviewed international journals and conference proceedings. He also participated in numerus research projects in Kora, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia in different capacities.
Professor Md. Mizanur Rahman has been performing as Editorial Board Member and Reviewer of renowned journals in his expertise area.
He has also been teaching and supervising Postgraduate and undergraduate students.
During his research and academic career, he has been awarded many honors and recognitions and fellowships e.g. Post Doc Fellowship (CAS-PIFI), Institute of Soil Science. Chines Academic of Science, Nanjing-210008, China; Scholarship (Padova University grant) for carrying out PhD from the Dept. of Agrobiotechnology, Padova University, Italy; Shaheed Sorawardy Hall Gold Medal (This award is given for outstanding academic Performances sincerity and regularity at graduation level in the University); Rajshahi University scholarship (Based on overall academic performances during undergraduate and graduate study in the university etc.
Professor Md. Mizanur Rahman has been engaged in various academic and professional bodies in home and abroad e.g. Academic member of Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, Member of Bangladesh Genetical Society, Member of Global Network of Bangladeshi Biotechnologists (GNOBB), Member of Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology Society, Chines Academic of Sciences, China etc.
