CRID International Scholars Research Workshop Inspires Global Collaboration in Nanjing, China

On 13 September 2025, the Center for Research Innovation and Development (CRID) convened a landmark International Scholars Research Workshop at the Institute of Electromagnetic Space Science and Technology, Innovation Building, Jiangning, Nanjing, China. Over three hours, the event gathered senior academics, early-career researchers, industry professionals, and innovation leaders from China and abroad to exchange ideas and practical skills for advancing research quality and impact.

The workshop opened with welcoming remarks from university leaders, followed by a short briefing on its purpose: to equip young scholars with the tools to publish in high-impact journals, navigate postgraduate opportunities, and turn research into innovation while building ethical, cross-disciplinary networks.

Exploring Next-Generation Technologies
The first session, “AI, Computing and Next-Gen Communication: Research and Innovation Perspectives,” brought together experts from Jiangning Future Science and Technology City, CRID delegates, and invited resource persons from industry and academia. Speakers examined emerging trends in AI, edge computing, and 6G networks, and stressed the importance of integrating big data analytics, machine learning, and cloud infrastructure into research pipelines. The discussion highlighted not only technical breakthroughs but also the need for rigor, reproducibility, and ethical standards in AI-driven work.

Publishing and Writing in the Era of AI
Prof. Dr. Bassiouny Saleh of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics guided participants through the process of publishing in high-index journals, explaining how to choose the right outlets, structure manuscripts, and navigate peer review to avoid desk rejection.
Dr. Gazi Tawfiq Ezaz, Postdoctoral Researcher at North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, followed with a deep dive into academic writing in the age of AI. He demonstrated how to maintain clarity, originality, and methodological rigor while using digital tools like Zotero, NVivo, SPSS, and R to strengthen research credibility.

Career Guidance and Innovation Pathways
A round-table session on career guidance featured Dr. Md Ekram Hossain, Executive Director and Senior Research Fellow at CRID, alongside Dr. Tawfiq Ezaz. They discussed how to choose postgraduate and postdoctoral programs, build a strong CV, and map career trajectories across academia, industry, policy, and research institutions.
Later, Mr. Johnny Jiang, CEO of Nanjing Bright World Information and Technology Co., Ltd., explained how researchers can transform their work into products and services. He introduced the fundamentals of China’s startup ecosystem, intellectual property rights, and access to funding and incubation programs.

Interactive Dialogue and Networking
The workshop concluded with an open Q&A and panel discussion, allowing participants to ask practical questions about writing, publishing, further studies, and innovation. Certificates of participation were awarded, and speakers received crests and certificates of appreciation. The closing remarks included a call for ongoing networking and collaboration between CRID, Chinese institutions, and international scholars.

Key Contributors
Among the distinguished resource persons were Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf (NUIST), Prof. Dr. Bassiouny Saleh (NUAA), Dr. Gazi Tawfiq Ezaz, Dr. Md Ekram Hossain (CRID), Md Shaiful Islam Babu (Zhejiang Normal University), and Mr. Jiang Wenjie (Nanjing Bright World). Their combined expertise spanned AI, sustainable development, academic publishing, and entrepreneurship.

By blending high-level insights with practical training, the CRID International Scholars Research Workshop underscored the importance of cross-border collaboration and skill development for the next generation of researchers.
